Major landforms of North America

Alaska Range

Location: It extends from the Alaska Peninsula to the border of the Yukon Territory, Canada.
Characteristics: They are mountains of South Central Alaska
Most important landform: Mount Mckenliey.


Appalachian Mountains

Location: They are extended from Central Alabama (U.S) up through new England states in the Canadian provinces of new Bruns wick, New Foundland and Quebec.   
Characteristics: They are mostly low and gently.
Most important landform: Mt. Michaell (North Carolina).

Brooks Range

Location: In northern Alaska.
Characteristics: The higher slopes are snow and ice-clad.
Most important landform: Mt. Isto (2.760m)

Canadian Shield

Location: In eastern and northern Canada, Area of north America.
Characteristics: Mainly includes rough and rocky surface.
Most important landform: Mont d´lbeuille.

Cascades

Location: From northeastern California across Oregon and Washington.
Characteristics: Its presents massive snow-capped volcanoes.
Most important landform: Peaks Mt. Hood, Mt. Ranier, Mt. Helens.





Coast Range

Location: Along the Pacific Ocean, and coastlines of California, Oregon, Washington, and the border of British Columbia, Canada, and Southern cage of Alaska.
Characteristics: It has tidewater, glaciers and low but rugged and scrub-covered hills.
Most important landform: San Francisco Bay





Coastal Plain

Location: In the area of the southern and southeastern U.S extends to the continental shield.
Characteristics: The coastal areas include bays.
Most important landform: Mississippi River


Great Plains

Location: North America Canadian Shield.
Characteristics: Lands is generally smooth with large treeless areas.
Most important landform: Mont Rushmore

Rocky Mountains

Location: From the Mexican frontier, up through the western U.S, and into Canada and eastern Alaska.
Characteristics: Include like 100 individual mountain ranges.
Most important landform: Mt. Elbert (4.399m)

Sierra Nevada

Location: In eastern California.
Characteristics: Gradually increaser on the west slope.
Most important landform: Mt. Whitney at 4.418m

Sierra Madres

Location: Runs parallel to Mexico’s Pacific Ocean coastline.
Characteristics: Have several peaks exceeding 3.034m.
Most important landform: Cerro Potosí.
